this past week, my husband and I have been playing tennis, our little 20 month old son runs around, Another mom and I took our kids to the park this week, they played on the playground, and we had a picnic, I went to help a friend with her garden, and our two toddlers played together while we did that, and yesterday evening, my husband and I played catch with a ball and gloves in the yard, and our son played some too with his daddy when we two were done, also, my husband and I borrowed a friend’s 4-wheeler and went 4-wheeling one evening this week. This was basically our first week of summer break, and we had fun this week. My husband is still working though, so we mostly do stuff in the evenings.

I really like that idea! There are probably a lot of touristy things we could do in the city we live near!

  2. Sandra Beeman says

I love these suggestions for summer because they do not include TV or the video game themes!

Thank you for posting all of these outdoor activities. I think we will be playing with our water table a lot. My daughter usually takes her ponies out and pretends they are going to the salon where she washes and styles them and lets them dry in the sunlight. I would also like to try to teach her some more outdoor physically challenging activities like riding a bike or using a scooter. The little guy is a bit to small for most of these yet, but a baby pool would be fun for him.

There are so many things to do during the summer time, the longest vacation period of the year. We have planned to go on a mountain trek for two days, stay overnight at the peak’s resort hotel or inn and go round about from the starting point to view the other side. We haven’t decided on where (specific), got any ideas?

It’s difficult to keep a child occupied over the summer break. I always have a hard time because I have a son who is an only child and he is forever bored!! I find something for him to do, he does it maybe for 5 minutes tops and he’s done!! Then on to something else. It’s always nice to get ideas from other people..

Love all of the ideas! A variety of suggestions. I especially like the clean up one. A good one to remind the kids about helping others in your community.

  7. Holly Trudeau says

All great ideas! It gets hard to find new free things to do in the summer, gets expensive going to water parks every day! Thanks for sharing!

It’s winter here now, but it can’t stay cold forever! These are great ideas- I especially like “catch bugs” :)

My grand kids are staying with me for a month this summer and I have been searching for ideas on what to do that will entertain them and not blow my budget. I really appreciate your list.
