A collection of the very best Thanksgiving side dish recipes, including classic Thanksgiving sides and a few new recipes that will steal the show.

Do you want to mix things up this Thanksgiving? Each Thanksgiving, I feel obligated to make Green Bean Casserole. I don’t have anything against it, really. I just yearn for something a little different.

Here is a collection of some show stopping side dishes that will complement your Thanksgiving turkey.

Best Thanksgiving Side Dish Recipes

I absolutely love the typical Thanksgiving fare of mashed potatoes and stuffing, slathered in turkey gravy. However, each year I try to introduce my family and friends to a couple of new Thanksgiving side dish recipes.

I’ve yet to settle on something new, but here are some of my tried and true favorites.

When searching for Thanksgiving recipes, I find myself drawn to the ones that take advantage of seasonal treasures like butternut squash, acorn squash, and sweet potatoes. I also tend to make a few slow cooker side dish recipes to free up my oven.

Classic Scalloped Potatoes

Scalloped Potatoes is such a classic side dish that pairs well with practically any type of meat. Scalloped potatoes are basically potatoes that are evenly sliced and then smothered in a seasoned cream sauce, before being baked to perfection.

I definitely want to try the slow-cooker mac and cheese. I just need to get over my slow-cooker fear that I’m going to burn the house down!

It is nice to serve the old favorites each year at Thanksgiving. At the same time, it is nice to throw in some new dishes from time to time.
