It’s summer grilling season and first up is a crowd-pleasing favorite, the hot dog. Summertime and hot dogs seem to go hand in hand. They are one of life’s simple pleasures and the perfect pallet for some awesome toppings. I am so excited to share 4 killer hot dog recipes to kick off summer, but first lets talk about what to serve with hot dogs.

Some of my favorite sides to serve with hot dogs are Lemony Macaroni Salad and Ultimate BBQ Cowboy Beans or Maple Apple Baked Beans. This Garlic Parmesan Grilled Corn is another great BBQ side dish. If chili dogs are your jam, I highly recommend this homemade Hot Dog Chili recipe. It is way better than that stuff you buy in a can and is worth the extra effort. For dessert, you’ll want to make this Banana Pudding. Seriously, it is the perfect summer dessert. If bananas aren’t your thing, give this No Bake Strawberry Pie a try. It’s incredibly simple to make and ideal for a hot summer day. Wash it all down with some Sweet Citrus Mint Iced Tea.

Now, let’s talk about the hot dogs, shall we?

A hot dog with no artificial ingredients? How interesting. I am a Kogel girl. When I lived in OK my grandmother would send a box of Made in Michigan products and it always included Kogels. My favorite hotdog is with onions, sauerkraut and mustard.

We love these hot dogs because they are nitrate free! We try to stay away from a lot of extra preservatives.

Cheese, beans, and chili make my haute dog, just plain on a bun with some sweet relish make my hot dog. It is hard to believe the variety of meals a single Oscar Mayer dog can make. I slaved over a hot stove making sir fry for lunch and now I’m staring at it like, “Why didn’t I just make hot dogs?” Guess what’s on Monday’s menu!
